The Line in the Sand
Where to begin...?
First of all, let me say that this site isn't intended as a manual or a portfolio. It is my proverbial line in the sand—a place to document what happens when you finally decide to take the wheel and shape your life under your own skin.
On paper, some would say I have no reason to complain: a medical degree, a steady income, a home, a wife, and children. But beneath the surface, I have spent years running behind myself, jumping through hoops, and sticking strictly to the 'normal' expectations society hands us. At forty-two, I found myself stressed, lonely, estranged in my own marriage, and carrying the physical weight of that quiet drift. The spiraling descent into poor health and a constant background sentiment of angst just kept coming.
Over the past months, I’ve thought deeply about authentic living, self-ownership, and freedom—aspects of humanity so easily lost in the daily treadmill. Today, I created this space as a living record of a deliberate shift back toward those truths. I want to reclaim my mental and physical autonomy. I want to get the body art and piercings that have lingered in the back of my mind for years. Not out of impulse, but to feel genuine, alive, and rooted in my own identity.
The Dark Woodcut represents the path ahead. Like a printmaker carving into timber, this journey requires cutting into the material to reveal a form. Here, I intend to write about both the wood that is stripped away and the wood that remains.
Do not expect a polished lifestyle guide. This is my personal archive of process, growth, and reflection. The writing here is primarily for myself, but anyone walking a similar path is welcome to come along.
This is where I draw the line. Those who want to stick around are free to join me on this side of it.
